THE COMPANY BEHIND THE TICKER
Ascott Residence Trust (ART), which began trading on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (SGX-ST) in March 2006, stands as the largest hospitality trust across the Asia Pacific region. By December 31, 2020, its comprehensive portfolio was valued at S$7.2 billion. ART's primary objective is to channel investments into real estate and related assets that generate income, specifically those utilized or primarily used as serviced residences, hotels, rental housing, and various other hospitality properties on a global scale. The trust's investment mandate expanded on February 27, 2021, to also encompass student accommodation. Reflecting its prominent position, ART is included in the FTSE EPRA Nareit Global Real Estate Index Series (Global Developed Index). Its expansive international holdings, as of December 31, 2020, consisted of 86 properties containing over 16,000 units. These assets are strategically distributed across 38 cities in 15 countries, covering Asia Pacific, Europe, and the United States. Many of these properties operate under well-known brands such as Ascott The Residence, Somerset, Quest, and Citadines. They are predominantly situated in major international hubs like Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, London, Manila, Melbourne, Munich, New York, Paris, Perth, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo. ART functions as a stapled group, consisting of Ascott Real Estate Investment Trust (Ascott Reit) and Ascott Business Trust (Ascott BT). Its operations are professionally overseen by Ascott Residence Trust Management Limited (managing Ascott Reit) and Ascott Business Trust Management Pte. Ltd. (serving as trustee-manager for Ascott BT). Both management entities are wholly-owned subsidiaries of CapitaLand Limited, a Singapore-listed company recognized as one of Asia's foremost diversified real estate groups.
