This investment vehicle seeks to replicate the total return of the Wells Fargo Business Development Company Index, after accounting for all associated costs. This particular index is a float-adjusted and market-capitalization weighted benchmark, constructed to evaluate the performance of all qualifying Business Development Companies (BDCs) publicly traded on either the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ, subject to meeting predefined market valuation and other selection requirements. The fundamental business model of BDCs centers on providing financing, often in the form of high-yield loans, to small and mid-sized enterprises, occasionally complemented by direct equity investments in those businesses.
