THE COMPANY BEHIND THE TICKER
COFCO Biotechnology Co., Ltd., established in 1998 and headquartered in Bengbu, China, specializes in the comprehensive processing and manufacturing of agricultural products across China. Its extensive product portfolio includes a variety of corn-based starches, such as edible, special, waxy, and modified waxy types. The company also supplies an array of feed ingredients, including corn gluten meal, sprayed corn husk, corn germ meal, and distillers' dried grains with solubles (DDGS), as well as raw materials for fertilizers and glutamic acid residue. COFCO Biotechnology manufactures diverse sweeteners like fructose and functional sugar alcohols, alongside fuel and edible alcohols, and even liquors. Biochemicals such as monosodium glutamate, citric acid, potassium citrate, polylactic acid, phytosterols, and natural vitamin E are also key outputs. Beyond these, its offerings extend to various edible oils (including corn crude, corn germ, rapeseed, peanut, and soybean oil), a range of syrups (fructose, maltose, glucose, oligomeric isomalt, and beer syrups), and essential packaging solutions (plastic woven bags, barrels, container bags, and diverse paper products). Additional specialized products encompass corn fiber feed, bacterial protein, microorganisms, compound antioxidants, and nutritious health foods. COFCO Biotechnology also provides essential support services like warehousing, logistics, and information consulting. Furthermore, the company's operational scope is remarkably broad, encompassing research and development in biological engineering, the production and sale of amino acids and both compound and organic fertilizers, and the trade of chemical products and grains. Its activities extend to the wholesale and retail of edible agricultural products, the export of its own products and associated technologies, and the import of necessary raw materials, equipment, and technologies. The firm is also involved in steam production and sales, coal wholesale, food and food additive manufacturing and sales, house leasing, food procurement, power generation, and the distribution of pre-packaged, bulk, and dairy food items. The company underwent a rebranding in September 2019, transitioning from its former name, COFCO Biochemical (Anhui) Co., Ltd., to its current designation, COFCO Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
